Awarded Maldivian Footballer of the year in 2003 by Haveery daily news and won the awards for best player of all the tournaments of season 2003 by Aafathis Daily news and Best Defender of season 2003 by Maldives FA, Assad is considered one of the best players in Maldives at this time.

Currently carrying captaincy of both Valencia and Maldives National team, Assad stepped his foot in Maldives Soccer from former first division club Youth sports. From Youth he moved Valencia and till date he is playing for Valencia.

This big fan of English Premier League giant Manchester United, shared many success Maldives gained in Soccer including holding the mighty South Koreans to a goalless draw in 2006 World Cup Qualifying held in Male' in 2004, where he was captain and Silver Medal in 3rd SAFF Championship held in Bangladesh.

Like most of the players, Assad also prefer to sign a contract for a season. It is well known that last two season's New Radiant tried hard to get signed with Assad, but failed.

This player from N. Maafaru island, North Maldives, consider Zidane of Real Madrid as his favourite international player.

Assad believes that there is some relation between him and captaincy. "Even from the time I played in school I am the captain whether it was the football team or a volley ball team" he said.

Interestingly, Assad holds National record for Long Jump and some soccer critics believe that no other soccer player in Maldives can jump as high as Assad do.

Assad is thankful for the help he received fro Heena Saleem, the coach of Youth Sports. He consider Saleem as one such person who helped him to develop his skill and increase his performance.
