Profile
Ibrahim
Fazeel or Oppo as most of his friends and fans call him, has
all the potential a midfielder should have to play the beautiful
game professionally.
While studying
his secondary education level he was selected for the senior
national team. Is'nt that sound great?
After his education Oppo joined Young Lagoons, a club well know
at that times and later on the club was sold to some businessmen
and renamed the club to Island Football Club (IFC).
Oppo spend most of the years of his career with IFC until he
moved to New Radiant in 2004. Critics and his fans believe that
his move from IFC to New Radiant was something he did very good
as this move helped him to boost his performance.
Historical moments from Oppo include his long distance goal
against Bangladesh in Golden Jubilee Tournament held in Male'
to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Soccer in Maldives. This
goal helped Maldives to reach the final of the tournament.
Another
unforgettable goal he scored was the one against Pakistan in
3rd SAAF Championship semi final. The only goal of Oppo in that
tournament and the only goal in that macth helped Maldives to
reach the final of the tournament for the second time in it's
three year history.
Everyone believes that Oppo is at his best form in ongoing season
(2005) and his performance may help him to grab an award next
year.
Oppo says his idol figure in Maldives soccer is Moosa Maniku
(Kuda Moosa), who was selected by Haveeru daily as Maldivian
Football Personality of the century.
