Profile

Mohamed Hussain or Oiyttey first appeared in first division from club Eagles in 1998 and soon his talent was recognized by many giant clubs. He joined New Radiant and shared many exciting and sad moments with the club.

Hussain was recognized by critics as a player with good physical strength, energetic and filled with excellent ball techniques. But sadly, he is also an injury friendly player, spending many seasons unattended due to serious injuries that glues to him.

After an absence of one season, Hussain came into the field with New Radiant in 2003 and won Cup Winners Cup and declared the player of that tournament. Then again came out of the field on the stretcher and spend another season due to injury.

After many speculations of his move to Victory, Hussain again appeared into the game as a New Radiant player in last season, but he struggled to win a first eleven position in the team packed with talented youngsters and experienced players lead by Bulgarian born Stoikov as their coach. But Hussain was a player of the only Maldivian team that reached the semi final of a continental tournament (AFC Cup 2005).

After spending most the time as a bench warmer in New Radiant last season, Hussain decided to make a new move in his soccer career and signed to club Valencia for the season 2006.

Success he highlights include best under 21 player of 1998, nominated for Haveeru’s best player award in 2000, best player of Cup Winners Cup in 2003. Player of senior national team when they won Bronze in 1999’s SAFF championship and Silver in 2000’s golden Jubilee tournament and 2003’s SAFF championship respectively.
