Ahmed Thoriq came into soccer club's focus while he was doing his higher secondary education and at that time he was included in Maldives national team squad, but got the chance to play for the national team when he was a player of New Radiant.

After the higher education Thoriq joined New Radiant and up to date he is playing for them.

During the time Moosa Maniku and Ahmed Niyaz were coaching New Radiant, Thoriq was a substitute player and his appearance comes mostly in the second half and at a time New Radiant struggling to survive.

Many soccer fans remember his appearance in a Male' League match played against IFC in 2003. Thoriq came in as a substitute player in the last fifteen minute of the game and New Radiant was one down with a score of 2-1 and the match was heading its climax. Thoriq scored two brilliant goals and saved New Radiant.

Thoriq himself beleives that was the most remarkable moment of his soccer career.

Thoriq was also an important figure in Maldives senior national team before he left to Malaysia for his undergraduate degree.

During his first semester break he again played for New Radiant in 2004's Male' League and helped them to win the tournament. In this same year, Thoriq played for Maldives in world cup qualification and scored against Mongolia and Vietnam.

Thoriq was selected by Football Association of Maldives as one of the best three player's of season 2004.

Praising for Thoriq's performance in Dhivehi League qualification, New Radiant's coach Stoikov said, Thoriq is one of the most promising strikers he got in his squad.
