Raushan's advice: Give your maximum
20 December 2005

MaldiveSoccer(MS): Very few players who play for Under 19, appears at club level. What do you think of the reason?

Raushan: I don't think it is true. Almost all the players continue to play football. But very few of them actually play for the 1st division clubs. Most of them plays for the 2nd and 3rd division teams.

MS: Why did you opt for Valencia?

Raushan: The offer was very good. New Radiant and IFC also asked me to join them.

MS: Why did you reject those clubs?

Raushan: To be frank, I wanted to play. In New Radiant, the chance for me to play in the first eleven is very less. IFC offer was attractive too. But Valencia was much better for me. That's why I joined Valencia

MS: Previously Suney said both of you would sign together, but you signed earlier. What happened?

Raushan: Suney delayed and I asked him and wanted to finish the signing early as possible. That's why

MS: Were you both planning to play for the same club?

Raushan: Nah. I didn't decide that. He might have decided it..

MS: What's your first target in Valencia?

Raushan: I have to compete with other players for the first eleven. I want to play, so I have to work hard for it.

MS: What's the chance for you to play for first eleven?

Raushan: Nothing is impossible with hard work. If you work hard, you would achieve the goal. I would work hard for it.

MS: Who helped you in your football career?

Raushan: All thanks goes to my Mom and Dad. My cousins also helped me to be a player as I am now. Specialy Ali Ahusan and Suney helped me a lot. I want to thank them.

MS: What's your best moment in football?

Raushan: When I scored the hat trick against Sri Lanka in 2001. It was a wonderful feeling.

MS: What do you want to achieve in your football career?

Raushan: I want to win a gold medal for Maldives. That's one of my biggest aim.

MS: If you get a chance to go abroad, will you consider it?

Raushan: Ofcourse I would be happy to go abroad. It would be a good chance.

MS: Which defender is difficult to beat?

Raushan: I played practice matches against the senior team. I feel assadh is very difficult to beat.

MS: Why do you think like that?

Raushan: He uses his head very brilliantly. He is very fast as well.

MS: Out of the coaches who have worked, who do you think is the best?

Raushan: Everyone is good. They have their own specialty. Mohan is very good too.

MS: Why do you think the junior team's failure to win abroad?

Raushan: There are lots of reasons. First thing are the opposition teams playing overage players. They themselves have agreed with us regarding it. Some of the players who have stayed in our hotel when we were their, agreed that they are overaged. They are strong and play a very physical game. There are good players in the team. Match practice is another factor. We play mostly against 2nd division or 3rd division teams. That's one of the big problems.

MS: Any other difficulty?

Raushan: Availability of a grass pitch is very important for my liking. For example, when we went this time, we did not get a chance to play in the grass pitch. We went and played two practice matches and one tournament match in the rain on a grass pitch.

MS: The best players of local soccer?

Raushan: Oppo , Dhagey and Ali Umar. They are the best players right now.

MS: There are talks that that lack of goal keepers is a huge problem. What do you say about it?

Raushan: There are keepers. But we have to give them chance to play. Under 19 keeper is tall and huge. But we need to give him chance to show his talent.

MS: Favorite local and International player?

Raushan: Oppo and Zidane.

MS: Whose influence is the most while you make decisions?

Raushan: Mostly mom and dad. But Hussienbey also give a lot of advice. He advice both Suney and me on contracts.

MS: Was there any effect on studies while you played?

Raushan: Actually there is not much effect. We practice only 2 hrs a day. The rest can be utilized for studies. So I don't think there is a problem for studies.

MS: Do you copy other players?

Raushan: No. But I do check on and try to do the same. For example, I tried to do Denilson's tricks.

MS: What's your advice for the emerging players?

Raushan: Give maximum in the practice and it would boost your play. So what ever you do, give your maximum to it.

MS: What do you think of the youth programme?

Raushan: Well, it is improving. It would bring new good players. I thank the FAM's technical director for his support.
