Vasil Takov smiling during IFC's practice: He likes
aggressive soccer
Maldivesoccer: There were speculations that you and the management of Guraidhoo had disagreements before you left in the middle of the season?
Takov: Yeah obviously. We had disagreements. For example: I wanted to give three days off and after the three days when I return to the practice I find that the management have given three more days off. I do the training and I am responsible for it. So they made the decision without informing me. So these things led me to leave Guraidhoo and go back home. Ms: Are you satisfied with IFC?
Takov: Yeah I am very much satisfied. In this opportunity I would like to thank the IFC management specially the president, Rasheed for extending his full support and for his attitude and vision about the club.
Ms: How about the players? Are you satisfied with your squad?
Takov: Yeah. I got the best midfield I guess in Maldives. Nizam has got a lot of experience and I think he would do a lot for the club.
Ms: How about Lachchey and the foreign players?
Takov: Well, they have yet to join with us. So I am waiting for them too. So that I could plan on everything
Ms: We have been observing your practices quite frequently. You have been concentrating on physical training a lot. Why?
Takov: If we want to build a building, we need to build a base. To build the base, I need the players to be physically fit. In physical training I have been doing a lot of jumping as it would help for the players to be more dynamic. I have been doing physical training for a purpose.
Ms: You have gone to Addu? What’s your view there?
Takov: I have selected the best three players from Addu Atoll. However, my trip did not much go according to what I desired. I could not get out of the house for three days due to the rain. But, I brought three good players from Addu?
Ms: Can you give more details about the players you selected?
Takov: I have selected 2 defenders and one striker. The striker is very young , but he is
very good.
Ms: Your prospectus about the squad?
Takov: Well, When Aamil, Lacchehy , the three addu players and the foreigners join the
squad, we would of course be very strong. But I would have difficulties by then as I have
to coach two different groups of players. The players I have been training is trained for 9
days and they would be more physically fit than the players who would com in this week.
Ms: What would be your strategy this year? You got a good midfield.
Takov: I am a person who likes aggressive soccer. When the players go forward the
whole team should go forward. If we defend the whole team should be defending. That’s
the purpose I am doing so much physical training.
Ms: Any more details?
Takov: I play a very simple game. Pass and pass and pass. So we would find loop holes
as the opposition would get frustrated.
Ms: How about your target?
Takov: Well, my target is very high. But I am not going to say anything about it. First,I
want to build a good team, then I would want good result.
Ms: You have been to Maldives before. Has soccer improved?
Takov: Yes. It has definitely improved. But we need to build younger generation, who is
capable to replace the older players. It is not the quantity we produce; it is the quality that
matters.
Ms: Any more you want to add up?
Takov: Well, this time I would want to build a well balanced team with good experience
and young players who could learn from them.
