A youth league and a football academy to start next year

Male', MALDIVES - Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has given the green signal of the birth of Maldives first youth league and a football academy. According to FAM's next year plans, a youth league of under 17 and 20 will run by FAM next year.

The football academy will be a part of youth league and players from all over the countrywill be selected and trained in this academy. The academy would sponsor the students education as well as their football training.

Other items included in FAM's "plan 2006" includes Renewal of turf grounds, where the current turf ground will be upgraded and another turf ground is expected to built next to the current one. And also a dressing room and additional space will be built for players.

An "A" licence coaching course will also be held in next year and this will be the first of this type in Maldives. FIFA officials will teach in the course.

Another event would be the marketing seminar in the early next year, which will be conducted specially for businessmen, journalists and other football interested people.

FAM also has plans to prosper the football of Maldives in club level and in national level which would compete in the ASEAN football.

FAM has also announced that there are programs for referees development and programs for the supporters as well.
