Maldives moves 14 positions up in FIFA ranking

MALDIVES - Eventhough Maldives failed to win any medals in recently ended 4th edition of SAFF championship, Maldives had a remarkable progress in FIFA world ranking, where they moved 14 positions up to secure 133rd. Previously Maldives was ranked as 147th, which was behind India and Sri Lanka.
In FIFA ranking which announced yesterday, SAFF champion India is at the top with 355 points and 127th in world ranking, before the tournament they were 135th.
Maldives lies next to India with 323 points and 14 position increment took them to 133rd in world ranking. Followed by Maldives is Sri Lanka at 144th, though no change in their position they lost 11 points and now they are left with 281 points.
Host Pakistan moved 10 positions up from 168 to 158, with 51 points added to get a total of 231 points. Bangladesh also moved 10 positions up to get 160th. Nepal and Afghanistan moved up 6 and 9 positions respectively, while fair play team Bhutan moved behind one position.
