Male', MALDIVES - AC Milan captain Paulo Maldini stated that his club AC Milan can come to Maldives to play friendlies against Maldives national team. Answering a question raised by maldivesocccer.com in the news conference held yesterday after the inaugration of Unity cup, Maldini said that he can see no reason to reject Maldives.

" It would be a very good opportunity and their is no reason of not coming to Maldives " he said.

Hertha Berlin of Germany visited Maldives in late 90's when Maldives FA provided them accomadation. They played two matches against Maldives national team.

When asked about how much he knows about Maldivian football, the former Italian skipper admits that he knows very little about Maldivian football, but he wants to know more.

"not much. Really. But I am here to know more about Maldivian football. I know Maldivians have great passion for football. And this would be the key for the improvement"

Maldivesoccer.com also asked him about his views on next summer's World Cup and the chance for Italy to win the tournament, the defender who won silver for Italy in world cup in 1994 said what everyone's used to say.

"Only Brazil can be regarded as the key team which has outstanding players and better than other teams. Others are equal"

" So Italy still have a chance to win the World Cup" he added.

In last year's champion league final, Liverpool was 3-0 down to AC Milan, but fought back and leveled the game and beat AC Milan in a breath taking shoot out.

We asked him: " How did you feel when Liverpool won the champions League last year and what's the chance for AC Milan to win the title this year?"

" Well, it was a devastating score line, but there are ups and downs in football and we have to accept it. And for this year if we played with determination we would achieve our goal" answered Maldini, who visited Maldives four times and planning to visit annually.
