Male', MALDIVES - The waiting is over! Ali Ashfaag, one of the best strikers seen in Maldives soccer history makes his move to one of the successful clubs of the country. Ashfaag signed a one year contract with this year's AFC Cup semi finalist, New Radiant.

After the signing, Ashfaag promised his new club fans that he will take the club into a new level in local and international soccer, according to New Radiant website. The club website also quoted him saying that he was impressed by New Radiant's professional management, players and loyal fans.

Sigining of this ace striker will help New Radiant to reduce the lack of having a good local striker in the squad. It's also believed that New Radiant will hunt a good foreign striker as well to partnership with Ashfaag.

This season is the third consecutive season that Ashfaag become the highest goal scorer. Throughout the season New Radiant's most fragile department is their attacking and inorder to overcome this they got help from Ahmed Thoriq, who is studying in Malaysia.

New Radiant media coordinator Ali Azim confirmed to Maldivesoccer a while ago that Valencia and National team striker Ali Ashfaag has signed a one year contract with New Radiant tonight.

Regarding this Ashfaag said he don't want to comment on this tonight. There were rumours around the capital about Ashfaag's move to New Radiant. Some say the deal was completed a week ago but kept secret as his contract with Valencia will end on 31st October.

Ashfaag, who said to maldivesoccer in an earlier interview that he will not sign to New Radiant if he has any other option. But his move may be a result of Valencia's failure in confirming the ticket to next year's AFC Cup.

New Radiant is now trying their best to turn Victory and National team keeper Imran Mohamed to their side. But many believes that Imran will stay with Victory.
