New Radiant brushed aside Hurriyya to enter final
23 October 2005

Male', MALDIVES - New Radiant brushed aside Dhivehi League champion Hurriyya to enter the final of 55th National Tournament. New Radiant, the defending champion, score 6 goals to give a shocking defeat to Hurriyya.

In the first half, New radiant played with four strikers and one attacking midfield and started to pressurize the defense line of Huriyya. The Huriyya's defence line was very fragile and New Radiant started to utitlise it fully.

New Radiant started scoring in the 21st minute and it never stopped from there. Oppo created all the chances for New Radiant.

In the second half, New Radiant scored two goals in the first few minutes and Hurriyya almost gave up the match. Huriyya then changed four of the key players and then started to organize more.

Hurriyya then created some of the chances but still the defence line could not cope up with the pressure of New Radiant. Meanwhile, Huriyya's central defender Mansoor also was substituted in the half.

The game ended with a 6- 1. One of the most humiliating defeat of Huriyya.

In the post match conference, Huriyya's coach was very upset about the performance of his players and kept on repeating about the weakness of the defence line

"I have asked the management from my arrival in here that we have a very vulnerable defence line. I asked them to find a good player. I tried 6 player for the central defence. I don't have any player who can play one to one defence which really makes me upset" said the worried coach.

He also praised the strong performance by the AFC semi finalist New Radiant.

"They have a very strong defence and their physical fitness is very good. They have 40 or more practices in grass grounds, while we have 0 and it also makes the performance low " he told giving reasons for the defeat.

The skeptical coach who gives out harsh words to the players praised the second half performance of the players though New Radiant scored 4 goals

"The players played very well in the second half though New Radiant scored 4 goals. They were more organized and they tried to attack. It is an added advantage. But still the defence could not cope with the little pressure" Goffa said.

Meanwhile, New radiant's assistant coach Niyaz was very delighted with the win.

"We came here believing that we could win with a huge goal margin. We was not surprised with this win." Niyaz said.

Mentioning his game plans in tonight's game he said that he note the weak defence line of Huriyya.

"We played with four strikers and one attacking midfielder so that huriyya will not settle in the game. We tried to defence during the previous matches because we were playing in AFC Cup and we concentrated more on those matches. We have to defend a lot in AFC matches, that why during the league matches we tried the same tactic. Tonight we tried to attack and we got the result. " the happy coach said.

Man of the match was Ibrahim Fazeel of New Radiant.
