New Radiant expressed unhappiness about referees... again
30 September 2005

Boyko (4) asking for a valid reason ... and the result was a red card

Male', MALDIVES - New Radiant management strongly criticised the UAE referees appointed by AFC for last Wednesday game. In an interview given to Maldivesoccer, Ali Azim, the media co-ordinator of New Radiant repeatedly said they (referees) ignored many fouls by Al Faisaly.

"The refereeing was very bad yesterday. Two players of Al Faisily should have been booked earlier but he (referee) just ignored. Meanwhile Boyko was yellowcarded on his first foul" the dissapointed media co-ordinator Mr. Azim said.

Boyko was send off in the last minutes of the game for his secod booking.

Azim also highlighted that the referees were same as their second leg of Quarter one played in Jordan. In Wednesday's game the referee was the fourth official of Al Hussein vs New Radiant match and the referee of that match was the fourth official on last Wednesday.

In most of the cases the referees are assigned such a way that the referees doesn't clash with the same region of a team playing in the match. But yesterday the referees were from U.A.E which is the same region (West Asia) as Jordan.

Azim also said that they will be leaving to Jordan on 8th of October and Ahmed Thoriq, who helped New Radiant to reach semi, will join the club.

"Thoriq will join the team and he will travel straight from Malaysia " He said.

Yesterday, Thoriq confirmed to Maldivesoccer that he is yet to make a final decision. Thoriq was away from his studies for almost a week to play in the Quarter final where his goal helped New Radiant to confirm the semi final.

New Radiant need to win the away game against Al Faisaly on 12th October or need a draw of 2-2 or more inorder to reach the final. A 1-1 draw will take the game into an extra period.
