Vyansa suspended

Male', MALDIVES - Maldives FA has put a heavy suspension over second division champion Vyansa. According to FAM, three players (Ahmed Rishwan, Mohamed Rasheed and Hussain Shimaz) and three officials including the coach, Ismail Asif (Kuda Heena) was suspended for one season and a warning to the club founder Mr. Mohamed Wisham.

These suspensions came after the nasty act done by Vyansa when they lost to IFC in the last game of recently ended Dhivehi League Qualification of Zone 9. Vyansa players and supporters attacked the referee and his assistants for allowing IFC's second goal.

After these incidents referees had a strike and refused to referee any more matches in a local game before FAM guaranties them full security during the matches. After a meeting of Minister of Youth and Sports with senior referees, FAM promised full security for referees during the matches.

By losting that match Vyansa's hopes of booking a place in first division was faded away and their rival Eagles, who were beaten by Vyansa in second division final, confirmed the last place of first division.

According to FAM, the suspended players cannot participate as a player or an official in any event organised by FAM till the end of next season and these players must take sports counciling from FAM.
