Mauroof: we won with a handicapped team

Male', MALDIVES - Victory coach Mauroof said although they won today's game againt IFC, their team was a handicapped team. Beating IFC by 3-0 in today's game took Victory to third position with 18 points.

The happy coach said that 11 players that were on the field were also not fully fit. But he had no choice other than to use them. He also mentioned that the strength today shown was because the team had discipline.

" Even after the red card , the team's morale did not go down and I am very happy for that" He said.

Answering a question by Maldivesoccer Mauroof mentioned that the team is in good form and he hope that the injured players will be back as soon as possible as there wil be 2 week break.

" The team's strength will definitely go up. I wanted to finish the last game giving happiness to supporters, management and the players. So I will work hard till the last game. " He added.

The delighted coach also said that the match today was a deserved Win.


Meanwhile IFC coach Nizam criticises the referee saying that local referees are too much against them.

" I have no complaints about the players, they played today better than first round matches but the difference is the referee" He said.

A deserved win

Victory started the game with a lot of enthusiasm to win the game. They started creating chances right from the whistle. The first chance was created in the 3 rd minute but went too wide from the goal. Victory started to pressurize the IFC defence which was very weak during the game. The first goal was scored in the 11 th minute by Dhona. The first goal should have been saved by Zariyandhu.

Shamveel also missed a golden opportunity in the 13 th minute. He should have netted the ball but was too late and no much power in the shot.

Akano meanwhile created a chance in the 24 th minute, but his shot missed the target. Fidhadhi had a fantastic game today. He was making all sorts of troubles to IFC defence line. There were a lot of free kicks awarded during the first half for IFC.

Arif of IFC attacked in the 40 th minute, but was saved brilliantly by the keeper. Shamveel got the re bounce, but unfortunately his shot hit the bar and went out and another shot from him in the 42nd minute was also saved by the bar.

Victory started the second half very well and forced Zariyandhu for a brilliant save. In the next minute the Victory goalkeeper, Imran was also forced to save a good shot from the IFC strikers. After a while Victory started to increase the pressure more and got another goal in the bag in the 63 rd minute by Fidhadhi. But the joy of the goal was diminished in the 65 th minute when Vahidh was sent off with the second booking.

Later IFC started to pressurize the Victory defense line but could not create many chances. Akano got a very open ball in the dying minutes but he missed . In the extra second minute Issey scored from the penalty spot when Nazim fouled him in the penalty area and confirmed a win of 3-0.
