MALDIVES - In tonight’s dhiraagu Dhivehi league match,
Victory Sports Club wins with ease against Hiriyaa. Victory scored
12 goals out of which Ibrahim Shiyam (Dhona) scored 4 goals. Substitute
Ahmed Habeeb who came as a substitute for 20 minuntes in the second
half also scored 3 goals.
Though there
were many goals scored in the game, there was not much entertainment
in the game. Hiriyaa players lacked any kind of energy and victory
players use it at their maximum.
Victory scored 3 goals in the first half. There was a fight within
the players of Hiriyaa during the half time. Some players refused
to go inside the changing room as well. Victory sports club then
netted 9 goals in the second half making the total 12 goals.
In the post match news conference, Hiriyaa Coach, Ali Nashidh said
that he had no hope of gathering 11 players before the match.
“I did not have the hope of gathering 11 players and playing
tonight’s match. Luckily there was enough players to play.
You could see that we did not have any substitute, to change later.”
He also added that the tournament went too long and the FAM should
plan it well
“The tournament is too lengthy. We have players based in islands
as well. If the tournament is planned like this then, the teams
playing from atolls have no chance of playing well.”
When asked about the team’s performance in dhiraagu Dhivehi
league he said that he did not expect the team to come so far.
“I did not expect Hiriyaa to come as one of the top six teams.
We wanted to play the zone league and then end from there. But we
are happy that we came so far”
Mauroof, coach of Victory said that he wanted to build the team’s
confidence for the upcoming national tournament from this match.
“We don’t have any chance of winning the league, so
we wanted to increase the confidence of the players for the next
tournament”
Answering to a question asked by maldivesoccer, mauroof said that
there will be not much difference to the club, when the new foreign
players are added to the team
“There is not much difference for victory when the new players
join. Because they come in to fill for the players who left”
He also commented the performance of the team in dhiraagu Dhivehi
league
“we played very well in the tournament. But we lacked a good
defense. We loose the matches when simple mistakes are done in the
defense line.”
