Fidhadhi saved Victory in the dying minutes
26 September 2005

Fidhadhi (25) in today's game scored a vital goal to save Victory
tasting another defeat

Male', MALDIVES - Victory's Morrocco striker Fidhadhi Mohamed's late header saved Victory getting down to the hands of Hurriyya for the second time in ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League.

Although Victory took the lead in the fifth minute of the game by Ibrahim Shiyam from Victory's first attack, Hurriyya played in form and leveled the game before the half time. The young striker Shinaz's shot balanced the game in the 42nd minute.

Victory put more pressure in the second half to take the lead, but it was again Hurriyyaa who scored a goal in the 59th minute and took the lead. It was Husnee this time who score for Hurriyya from a pass by Shinaz, who received the ball as a result of a blunder by a Victory defender.

Hurriyya went very close to celebrate a win and increase their margin between their rivals in the league, but experienced Fidhadhi came to rescue Victory in the extra period of the game.

Victory coach Mauroof said that they played for a win and the players played a good football today.

" We played for a win and the players worked hard. They played an outstanding football. But the goals scored were individual mistakes and in professional football like this they have to minimize these mistakes" He said in the news conference.

Mauroof also believed that their opponent boosted their performance from mistakes made by Victory players.

" Fadhikko got 2 to 3 chances where he was completely unmarked but he could not utilize it. When players do such mistakes the opponents will take those as an advantage" He said.

On the other hand Hurriyya coach Goffa said he is sad but will not waste his tears and admitted that his opponent was strong.

"The goal in the last minute was a bit disappointing. But I should give credit to all my players as they did everything they could in their ability. So even though I am sad I will not waste my tears. Our desire was to win but the opponent was very strong" Goffa said.

Replying to a question asked by maldivesoccer Goffa said that he still have the problem of keepers but today's game was not based on keepers.

"We still have the problem of keepers. But today's game was not about keepers but it was about midfielders and strikers. Shinaaz of ours and Fidhadhi of Victory played good football". He concluded.
