Saanthi in National team practice

Male' Maldives - Maldives' assistant coach Ihsaan (Saanthi) stated that over confidence will not ruin the team this time. In an interview given to maldivesoccer, soon after the end of today's game, Saanthi said that winning the first match with a huge margin will surely boost the confidence of the players, but it will not let us go down this time.

Saanthi highlighted the situation they faced in Bangladesh in 2003. Maldives won the first match against Bhutan by 6-0 but lost the second match to Bangladesh to 1-0.

" we have seen how confidence ruined us before in 2003's tournament, so we will handle the situation this time, it wont happen this time " Saanthi said.

Saanthi also said that assistant manager Shah Ismail, the captain who lead Maldives in Bangladesh, is talking with the players about it.

According to Saanthi, Maldives will not change their game play when facing Sri Lanka on 9th, but he is aware of the physical game of Sri Lankans and said Maldives will come out with an adjustable game play.

In today's game Maldives substituted some key players due to the physical game applied by the Afghans in the second half.

" Key players substituted to prevent from a major injury, we are getting only a day to rest and the next opponent is Sri Lanka " Saanthi said.

He also said that the preparation for Sri Lanka match has been already started and they are ready to face Maldives' biggest rival in soccer.
