Maldives to face India in the semi final

Karachi, PAKISTAN - Maldives will face India in the first Semi final clash of ongoing SAFF championship, as the last match of Group B ended as a 1-1 draw between the two time champion India and defending champion Bangladesh.

Maldives and India match will kick off at 1500hrs local time while the host Pakistan will face defending Champion Bangladesh at 1800hrs.

The last time India and Maldives faced in this tournament was in the semi final of 2nd edition in Goa, India, where India stunned Maldives by 2-1 to enter the final. In the final of first SAFF championship held at Kathmandu, India celebrated the championship after beating Maldives by 5-1, but both had a 1-1 draw in the group stage.

Maldives and India clashed 7 times in International football, where India won 5 times and Maldives won just one game and one game ended as a draw. Maldives beat India in Golden Jubilee tournament held at Male' in 2000 to celebrate 50 years of soccer in Maldives.
