world class defender (WSG)

Karachi, PAKISTAN - After the final Group A clash between Maldives and Pakistan, maldivesoccer.com received many comments from the visitors saying that the team's midfield is weak, but coach Stoikov didn't agree on that.

"I will not say that. I am an expert. I am happy with the midfield" he said.

The Bulgarian born coach who won two silver medals with Maldives is happy with teams preparations for the upcoming semi final match.

Stoikov advised his players on how to keep their thinking when facing India in the semi final.

"The players are representing the country, so we have to play for the country and we have to be willing to get glory for the nation."

"I think that would be the aim of most of the players who play at this level" He said.

Maldivian national team have also practiced penalty shoot outs if neither team could break the deadlock.

"We have practiced almost all the strategies which includes penalties too"

Oppo, who was replaced in the pakistan encounter is still suffering from injury but it was a relief that he is able to play.

"Oppo is a little bit injured. But we hope he could play"

Meanwhile, Ihusaan Abdul Ghanee, the assistant coach was very thankful for the fans.

"In the previous match, the stadium was packed with Pakistani supporters, but the Maldivian supporters voice was heard non stop through out the match. They were fabulous" He said.
