We wont surrender : Stoikov

Male', MALDIVES - National Team coach Iordan Ivanov Stoikov has revealed in a press conference held at FAM moments ago, that the team would fight for a draw against the mighty Iranians in the Asian Games to be played in Doha. The Bulgarian born coach said the team would not surrender in front of the Iranians.

The coach who brought down the humiliating 17-0 score line to just 3-0 believes it would be a miracle to get a win against the Iranians.

‘It would be a miracle to beat them. But definitely we are not going to surrender in front of the Iranians”

He also expressed his satisfaction on the inclusion of the senior 3 players in the squad.

‘I am very confident of my team. The three senior players have brought good stability. Imran has joined the team, it is a good boost for the team”

About his target for the upcoming games Stoikov expressed that he would like to get a win against the Indians, Hong Kong and a draw against Iranians.

“My target is to get win against India, win against Hong Kong and draw against Iran”

If the team could manage it then the team would definitely have a chance to go to the second round or achieve second place.

Meanwhile National Team manager Addo has also expressed that he also expects to achieve second place in the group.

“India and Hong Kong is above us in ranks. But we can aim to beat them. Hopefully we can and achieve second place”

Meanwhile Addo will not be leaving with the national team but would join the team in Doha. The manager’s post would be filled by Hashim during the stay in Oman.
