Football competition to be held in Laamu

MALDIVES - A private football academy is preparing to hold a football tournament in Laamu atoll during the middle of December this year. Lirugaam Saeed (Larey), Vice President of the academy stated that their academy mainly concentrates on Laamu Atoll.
“We are
trying to improve the football in the Laamu Atoll. The kids don’t
get many activities after school and we are trying to organize some
in that region”
The football
academy’s president is Victory’s Assistant coach Suzeyn,
while the Chairman is Mauroof Ahmed, the head coach of Victory. Former Victory player Mufeed is the coach and Ahmed Affal is the technical director of the academy.
Eventhough the academy is lead by some of the high profiled names of Victory sports club, Larey confirms the academy has nothing to do with the club.
“It has
nothing to do with the club. This is organized on the interest of
ours” He said.
The application form for the tournament will be issued in a later date and Larey said that will be announced very soon. And he also confirmed that clubs from other atolls can also participate in the competition.
