MALDIVES - Vietnam thrashed Maldives 5-0 in their last encounter of AFC Futsal championship qualification played yesterday. Earlier on the tournament Maldives experienced three defeats against Cambodia, Turkmenistan and Malaysia to finish the qualification round at the bottom of group A.
In the other games Malaysia drew 5-5 with Turkmenistan and both entered the championship, which will be held in Uzbekistan from May 21-27.
In Group B, Australia routed Macau 16-2 to finish atop group B and entered the campionship, while a 2-2 drew against Korea Republic seems enough for Hong Kong to confirm the last available berth.
A total of 17 teams will play in the championship and they are:
Iran, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan (hosts), Thailand, Kuwait, Tajikistan, China, Lebanon, Iraq, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia and Turkmenistan.
