Male', MALDIVES - Malaysian club Perlis and Singapore giant Home United shows interest on New Radiant striker Ashfaag (Dhagey). According to New Radiant website, Perlis and Home United are keen to sign Dhagey as soon as possible.

New Radiant played against these two sides in this year's AFC Cup, where they beat Home United in Male' by 5-3 and held Perlis to costly draw of 0-0 in Male', which ends Perlis' hope of reaching the quarterfinal.

Perlis also gave New Radiant a bitter result when they faced each other in Malaysia, where New Radiant lost the game by 6-0.

According to New Radiant, Home United's main interest on Dhagey is due to the injury of their key striker Egmar and Perlis manager stated he has never seen a striker like Dhagey in this region for the last few years.

New Radiant beleives there is a high possibility that Dhagey leaves the blue for the rest of this season.

Indian club East Bengal also showed interest on Dhagey prior to this year's season. He also dropped a trial chance with Portugal giant Benfica, last year. Benfica reached the quarter final of UEFA champions league this year after beating defending champion Liverpool in two legs.

lets hope that NEW wil release ashfag without holding him back and giving bad advice like valencia did. lets all try and put maldivian football ahead of the clubs. NEW has so far given the maldives a good name in many different international tournaments. - afroman

I think Maldivesoccer.com could ask Dhagadey and clear up the air on this issue. the topic of the interview or article could be as follows; "did Valencia 'block' him from going for a try at Benfica or did his 'girlfriend(s)' block him?"
on a personal note, i think Dhagey should have gone to Benfica earlier and now to perlis regardless of the fact that he would play at the AFC cup or not, as this will benefit our national team on the long run. this will give our national team a much needed boost on both match experience and fitness of the player involved. we could all learn from the experience of Senegal (whose natonal team players are all based in France), South Korea, China and Japan.(all these countries have their players playing abroad and these players chip-in with the national team with experience on the bigger stage.) we should also try to avoid the Saudi Arabian formula of not letting any player play abroad and as a result, always struggling and never 'improving' on the world stage. Dhagey should give this a thought. - iF-Rey

Saleem, dhagadey will not be able to play in the AFC cup because he will be cup tied (1 person cannot play for 2 teams in the same competition). Those teams are wanting him to use him in their domestic league and other competitons not the AFC cup.

And for Koosani, Valencia did not hold dhagadey. It was because of a personal problem he did not go. I am telling you even this time Dhagadey will NOT GO even if Newradiant wants him to go. Is this news now!!!!! - Jack

koosani is right. Its Valencia adheel's pressure that led to dhageys change of mind on his benfica trials.I am sure that new radiant wont hold him back. salaam may be right here too but it doesnt matter if dhagey cant play for afc cup he will still be playing in a better league in m'sia. - al

Should new release dhagey to either of clubs can he be eligible to play for them? Bcuz in UEFA champs. league if a player participated in the qualifyin round for a club he can only play for that team. Even if he changes the club he wud be ineligible to play. so i think AFC champs league also will be like that. - salaam
