U14 national team leaves for training

Male', MALDIVES - Maldives U14 national team left Male' last night for training in Sri Lanka before attending AFC under 14 Football Festival on 29th of May.

After the completion of the training programe in Sri Lanka, the team will fly straight to Kuala Lumpur for the festival.

Naabe is the head coach of the team, where as FAM coach Mohan will also accompany the team as their manager.

Maldives is grouped with Laos, Cambodia, Philipines and Indonesia. The Tournament will be conducted from May 29th till June 4th.

Maldives FA regularly gives these youngsters the international experience through AFC tournaments, but till now none of the junior teams have ever grabbed an outstanding performance.

Last year Maldives under 17 national team participated in the AFC U-17 chmapionship held in Bangkok and lost all two group games. Thailand and Myanmar top the group beating Maldives 10-0 and 12-0 respectively.

It's a serious concern that the youngsters never get a result in the overseas. And the rate at which these kids come out to the professional or semi professional league in maldives! Those are some unanswered questions! - kaju
