A Disastrous start by the blues

Male, MALDIVES - New Radiant lost their first encounter with Sun Hei of Hong Kong . New Radiant's defense line was not organized and lacks any kind of desire in the first half. As a result, Sun Hei players who were stronger pressurized the defense line.

Julius scored his first goal from a rebound ball when sadhun punched the ball. Three players of Sun Hei were left unmarked and Julius had his own time to put the ball in to the corner of the goal.

Nine minutes later, again Julius scored, this time from a marvelous header. The cross by Kai Kheuk was headed to goal and Sadhun had to chance to save the goal.

In the second half, New Radiant improved their game play and then started to pressurize the defense line of Sun Hei. As a result the game changed to a more physical game and referee. Kongtongkai of Thailand had to blow his whistle quite frequently. Assistant Coach of New Radiant, Niyaz was complaining from the sidelines regarding some of the decisions by the referee.

New Radiant had quite open chances but could not open the goal scoring chart.

 

I am surprised of the result: Koo

In the Media conference, Coach of Sun Hei, Mr. Koo said he was surprised of the result

“I am very surprised of the result. The players did very well considering the humidity and the heat. It was a very good game by our players”

About the next game he said that the game is too far and he don't want to think about it.

‘The game is after 6 weeks time and I don't want to think about it right now”


We are not ready for AFC Cup: Niyaz

New Radiant's assistant coach, Niyaz was very happy with his player's performance

“They played very well. Their work rate was very high in the second half compared to the first half.”

“We got some good opportunities. We got the best chances in the match but we could not score”

He also mentioned that New Radiant was not prepared for the AFC Cup

“Last year when we started to play AFC Cup, we were in a very good form. But in this year, we played only two matches.”

Regarding the upcoming matches, Niyaz said they are in a very big pressure after loosing today's game

“We are in a very bad position. Now we have to fight for a win in the away games as well. We cannot just defend in the away games but concentrate more on attack as well”

Meanwhile, in the next match of group E, Perlis beat Home United in Singapore by 3-2. New Radiant will play against Perlis in Malaysia on the 21 st of this month.
