Super Reds storms into the final

Victory has beaten New Radiant in the replay of the President’s cup first match tonight. The match was played without supporters and only FAM pass holders were allowed to enter the stadium. However, the match was telecasted live on Television Maldives.
Victory dominated the first half creating lots of chances and in one of those chances in the 26th minute, Friday scored from a superb bicycle kick. The ball went straight in to the corner of goal.
Adam Lareef extended the lead for Victory. Sobah and Aslam had a big misunderstanding. Both players left the ball for each other and Adam Lareef took the advantage to score the ball in to the empty net.
However New Radiant got a golden opportunity to come back from behind. Victory players appealed for an offside when Ashfaaq got the ball from a through pass, but assistant referee didn’t show as an offside. Imran came to cover the ball and Ashfaaq missed the ball, but Shimaz who got the rebound ball took a shot, but it went out near the post.
In the second half, New Radiant pushed their players upfront, but did not have any creativity to score a goal. Victory players set back in their half and used counter attacks to create danger in New Radiant’s half.
The match ended with the score line 2-0, which means New Radiant have to face Valencia on the 14th of this month while Victory enters straight in to the final.
In the post match news conference, Victory’s coach was ecstatic about the win. He first congratulated the players and thanked everyone for the gift.
‘I thank the players for the lovely gift they gave me. Three years back as well they gave me this kind of gift for my birthday and I am really happy”
Meanwhile Suzeyn replied yet again on the comments made by New Radiant’s chairman Azim on Victory’s supporters.
‘I am very pleased when Azim said Victory does not have supporters, yes of course we do not have supporters like New Radiant who throws the billboards and throw water bottles towards the players”
Suzeyn also explained that he was pleased with his players’ attitude and his players finished the match without any cautions.
“Anil and others who missed the match today had minor injuries. But they would be fit for the final”
He also explained that Victory’s plan was to score a goal somehow and to maintain the lead.
‘We could not maintain the lead in past two matches. So we wanted to show the supporters that we could maintain it”
Meanwhile, New Radiant’s coach Vladamir Goffa at first told the reporters that he would give few comments.
‘We played without supporters and I would like to make very few comments”
However, Goffa explained that he is unhappy with the result.
“New Radiant players have the motivation and the desire to win and play outstandingly when we are in a final or when we are in a must win situation”
“So this is not an important match, so the important match is to play against Valencia and win it”
But in the last three matches played against Valencia New Radiant did not manage to win any of it.
