Wadheeu scoring the only goal of the match

Male', MALDIVES - IFC climbed up to the top place after a narrow victory against the minnows- Guraidhoo Zuvaanunge Jamiyya. None of the teams could perform up to the standard in the first half, and the ball was kept in the midfield all the time.

But to the despair of Guraidhoo, IFC took the lead early in the first few minutes. Wadheeu scored early in the first few minutes, after beating the keeper from a cross by Mukthaar.

There were some fantastic football, but none of the teams could create a chance to score.

In the second half, Guraidhoo played very well and created a number of chances, but they couldn’t score from any of those. In the dying minutes of the second half, IFC created some open chances but all of those were wasted

In the post match news conference, IFC coach, Takov said the performance is not important; it is only the score which is important

“At a game like this the score is the important factor, not the performance. Guraidhoo played really well and it was a very difficult game for us”

He noted the performance was low as they did not have enough time for recovery
“We played Eagles two to three days before and we had put a lot of effort to win the game as it was very important. And after the game we did not have much time to recover”

Takov mentioned that every body forgets about the performance later and would only remember the result
“Everybody forgets the performance. After a period they would only remember the score”

Meanwhile, Guraidhoo’s coach Nizam said that he is delighted with the performance and the only disappointment is the result
“I am disappointed only with the result. We worked very hard and I am very happy with that”

He said the only problem is that the players are too new and the lack of match experience
“The players are very new to this level of football. We did not have any kind of match experience. We have the problem of traveling to here and playing against the 1st division teams”

Nizam also highlighted that the performance is improving match by match, but they need to win a game before it is too late.
