Azim misses a golden opportunity to score

Male', MALDIVES - It was a nervous ending for Valencia, but they managed to hold the score line till the end of the match. Hurriyya players were fighting till the end to score and a couple of open chances missed, there chances to at least draw the game were diminishing minute by minute.

In the first half as well, Hurriyya got some few open chances while Valencia managed only one shot which was on target.

But in the early period of the second half, Valencia players tried to score and pushed their players upfront. In the 55th minute Mohamed Hussain scored from a half volley which was passed by Badjektek.

Minutes later from the first goal, Stainley beats two defenders of Hurriyya and shot the ball in to the running Ishaaq. The rebounded ball was shot in to the goal by Farhad.

Hurriyya players then tried to score and out of a very good chance in the 80th minute Shinaz scored from a terrible mistake by the defense line of Valencia.

The match ended with that score line. Man of the match was awarded to Mohamed Hussain (Oittey)

It is really embarrassing: Eric

In the post match news conference, Valencia’s coach Eric Williams said that it was a very poor performance from the players in today’s game

‘It was very poor. Very poor indeed. It is really embarrassing football”

But he noted that it might happen as they only got 3 days rest between the two games

“We just got only 3 days between the games. They are really tired and it would happen and in the dying minutes all of their energy was gone and as a result silly mistakes were made”

Eric once again noted that the problem is caused as the program was not followed during his absence.

“The discipline and attitude of the players are really poor. They bunked the practices as I was not around. ‘

Eric was very unhappy about the performance of the foreign players as well.

‘The foreign players are of the same level as the locals, so I don’t think we need to spend that much money on them and keep them in a contract. We need to enter the shopping market when the tournament ends”

It was an unlucky day for us: Rafeeu

Meanwhile, Hurriyya’s Assistant coach Rafeeu noted that he was delighted with the performance of the players

“It was that we could not score. It was an unlucky day for us. There were a lot of chances and we did not have the luck with us”

Rafeeu also noted that the performance would improve when Mansoor and Imad joins the team.
