Ziyad(M) after scoring the first goal. but it was just not enough to
win the game.

Male', MALDIVES - Eagles managed to grab their first point in the Dhivehi league zone 9 qualification when Mohamed Yameen scored a late goal to hold second division champion Maziya to a 2-2 scoreline.

In the 20th minute Ziyad managed to head to the goal from a beautiful cross by Faaris to open the score sheet. Maziya captain, Sujau tried to defend the ball but it went over his head and fell on to Ziyad who headed to the goal. Keeper Sadhun, who is on a loan transfer from New Radiant tried to save the ball, but it touched his finger tips and went straight to the goal.

In the dying minutes of the second half, Maziya managed to come behind from a superb shot by Adam Lareef. His shot from outside the penalty area got deflected on the cross bar and went straight to the goal.

In the second half, Adam Lareef again passed the offside trap of Maziya and chipped the ball past the goal keeper to score his second goal.

But to the despair of Maziya, Eagles came behind in the 85th minute from a header by Mohamed Yameen.

The match ended from the score line. The man of the match was awarded to Adam Lareef.

Eagles coach, Abdul Salaam Meeza went from the bench, angry with the performance of his players and he did not attend the news conference either.

In the post news conference, Eagles Assistant coach Ahmed Nimad said that the performance was very good from his players
“We played really good. But the absence of the Srilankan: Kumara and Battey’s fitness were really missed from the game. It is hard to replace them”

He congratulated the players on their performance
‘They really played well and we must congratulate them for their play. It was just an unlucky day as we created a lot of chances”

Meanwhile, Maziya’coach Ismail Mahfooz said that the performance was not bad from the players, but could easily have grabbed the match if they could score from the open chances
“They did not play well. But if they could have taken the chances than we would not have been in the pressure we had in the last few minutes”

He also noted that the goals were scored from two silly mistakes from the defense line
“The two goals came from silly mistakes by the defense line. It should be avoided in the upcoming games as we have some big games ahead”

Match commissioner, Hamid Abdul Ghafoor (Addo) had a discussion with Mahfooz after the news conference as he did not follow the instruction by the fourth official. He was asked to sit in the bench repeatedly by the fourth official but he did not obey.
