IFC continues their unbeaten run after beating the minnows Maziya and maintains their lead in the top position of the Dhivehi League Zone 9 qualification table.

IFC took the lead early in the first half from a marvelous free kick by Shamveel. Sadhun who is in a loan transfer from New Radiant only managed to get a touch on the ball, but couldn’t prevent it from going inside the goal.

Even though none of the teams looked like scoring another goal, IFC extended their lead near the end of the first half. Mukhthaar who took the penalty, shot it second time after it got rebounded when Sadhun punched it.

In the second half, Maziya dominated the possession and looked very dangerous. They were creating open chances, but none of them was converted to a shot on goal. But adding to the gloom, it was IFC who scored the third goal. Wadheeu’s superb shot from the edge of the penalty area went curling straight in to the top corner of the goal. And later Mukhthaar made it 4-0

Even though IFC scored 4 goals, Maziya were trying their level best to score and in the end of the regular time, a consolation goal was scored from the penalty spot by Adam Lareef. This was his 4th goal in the season.

I would know the level of my team after Valencia match – Takov

In the post news match conference, IFC’s coach Takov noticed that the game was a tough game and they came for a win.

“It was a very tough game. Both teams played really well and were creating chances. We wanted a win and we got it. I am happy with that”

He also said that the team has already 50% cleared for qualifying for the Dhivehi League.

“We are 50% qualified for the league. This would add more pressure to the other clubs and for us as well. Still we don’t know who would relegate”

Takov also mentioned that he would know the level of his players and the performance after their next match which is against Valencia.

“We still have not played with a stronger opposition. So when we play with those clubs we would know our actual strength and the level of the team and then I can comment on whether we could stay as the top spot in the table or not”

Should improve the scoring department- Ibrahim Waheed

While, Maziya’s manager Ibrahim Waheed said that he was happy with the performance of the players and the changing point of the match was the two goals scored by IFC.

”I am happy with how the players played. With good discipline and with good enthusiasm”

He noticed that the only weak department in the team is the scoring and if it can be improved the team would have a good chance.

“We got a lot of chances today but we could not score. If we could improve it for the other games it would be very good for us”

Maziya’s coach Ismail Mahfooz was suspended for the match for disobeying the officials’ orders.
