Guraidhoo Z.J manages to get a breath

Guraidhoo Zuvaanuge Jamiyya manages to grab three points from today's Dhivehi league Zone 9 qualification match against their arch rival Eagles in the last minute of regular period. The win would give them a chance to get a breath in the league.

Guraidhoo's foreign player, Otegbola Oluwaseun Sola was in the heart of the striking force and started to create a lot of chances right from the begining. In the 28 th minute, Easa headed tried to head to the goal from a lovely build up. The header was deflected on the cross bar and Otegbola shot a fast pace bullet straight into the corner of the goal giving no chance for the Keeper to save it.

After the half time, under the instruction of their Assistant coach Nimad, Eagles came out with more enthusiasm and played stronger than the first half. Their Morrocco coach Abdul Salaam Meeza was rested as he was suffering from a flue according to the reports from Eagles officials.

Eagles managed to level the game in the 86 th minute from the penalty sport. And in the last minute of the regular time, Guraidhoo came back infront from a superb shot by Ikram.

The man of the match was awarded to Ikram.

In the post match news conference, Guraidhoo's coach Nizam said he wanted the 3 points and he is satisfied with it.

“I wanted the 3 points and our players managed to achieve it. I am satisfied with it. If we did not get the 3 points than our hopes for qualifying for the league would almost be over”

Nizam also said that they would hope to qualify for the league although they have to play against bigger teams

“In a league tournament there will be hope to qualify until the last match. And we would be hoping the same as well”

Meanwhile, the disappointed Eagles Assistant Coach said that today wasn't their day

“It isn't our day. We were very unlucky. We got so many chances and wasted all of them”

He also noted that their hopes to qualify for the league is almost over

“The doors for the qualification are almost over. We have very strong teams to play and it would be an uphill task. “

But he said that they would still be playing for a win

“We want let our hopes down and we would obviously play for a win”

eagles played a good game but with lack of organization when moving forward. Eagles have good players, such as the likes of number 17 & 20 (who came in as a sub in the dying minutes) who are not yet utilised. i hope Eagles and Guraidho will give a hard time for the big guns. as per their performance yesterday, they could easilly beat any big club, given that they are lucky enough and their players concentrate on the game in hand. as we saw the other day, NRSC is also 'beatable'. I hope both teams would come back strong in the next games. well done Guraidho. Hard luck Eagles. -iF-Rey-
