Valencia came from behind to win today's Dhivehi League Zone 9 Qualification match against IFC. Today's loss marks an end to IFC's winning streak. Although Valencia took the lead, IFC managed to show impressive football and dominated the possession, but was unable to create any open chance.

The goal scoring sheet was opened by Austine in the 9 th minute from a lovely build up by the IFC players. Wadheeu crossed a low cross inside the penalty area and Shamveel left the ball for Austine fooling the Valencia defenders. Austine then struck to the corner of the goal.

But Valencia levelled the game, thanks to the own goal by IFC defender and in the 35 th minute Azim headed to the empty goal when Badjektek crossed from outside the penalty area. Keeper Zariyandhu tried to save the cross, but the ball went much higher than his reach.

After the goal, there were number of chances for both the teams, but none was converted to a goal.

In the post match news conference, Valencia 's coach Eric Williams as usual wasn't impressive about his player's performance.

“I could say our players's performance were below par. But the important thing was to get the 3 points and we managed to get it”

“I asked the players that their attitude should change. If we loose the game, then all the hardwork done in the New Radiant match would be forgotten.”

Eric, also let out his frustration towards the referee saying that the referee's performance should be criticised.

“Our decisions are criticised. How come there decisions are not! Constructive criticism is used to develop their skills and without that how can they correct their mistakes”

Meanwhile, IFC's Coach Takov also agreed on the poor refereeing .

“We talk about referee been biased to certain clubs. Their attitudes should be changed. They do a lot of big mistakes and that should be corrected!”

He commented that his players performance was good and he was happy with it.

“It was a difficult game and the players tried to use the maximum effort. But the important thing is to qualify for the League and now we have to concentrate on the next matches”

To Valencia management and Staff: Do your utmost and level best to bring midfield dynamo Aakey(Ahmed Naaz)and versatile defender Assad to the pitch as soon as possible, in order for Valencia to play as a much more cohesive unit. Even if Valencia had won the past 3 matches (Huraa, New and IFC), Valencia lacked the unity of defence by making careless mistakes. I hope this "disarray in defence" ends when Assad joins them on the pitch.- Ali

Congratulations to Valencia. Now you are in terrific form after having beaten Huraa, New Radiant and even IFC. Though they lost to Victory, Valencia was unlucky not to win after having missed several brilliantly created chances. Valencia, Keep up the winning formulae, U'll defend the same title u've won Last year. - Ali
