Hurriyya's struggle to qualify for the Dhivehi League enters in to a critical stage after tonight's Dhivehi League Zone 9 qualification match. Hurriyya just managed to get a draw and they remains in the relegation zone with 2 points while, Guraidhoo remains just ahead of them with 4 points after tonight's game.
Both teams had a lot of chances to take the game to their side, but none of them could mark up their name in the score sheet.
Shots were flying everywhere and the statistics tells it all. Guraidhoo managed to take 20 shots and out of which only 4 were on target. And Hurriyya who took 10 shots managed to keep only 3 shots on target.
In the post news match conference, Hurriyya's Assistant coach, Rafeeu said that he is very unhappy and sad that they lost three vital points
‘We came to get the 3 points and the players' performance was disappointing. They could not perform at their level.”
‘I am not telling Guraidhoo is an easy team to play with and we could take the 3 points easily. But we came with that aim and we could have done it”
Rafeeu also said after loosing tonight's game it would not hinder their chances to qualify for the league.
“This would not hinder our chances to qualify for the league. We still have 3 matches and we can qualify for the league”
Meanwhile, Guraidhoo's coach Nizam remained very delighted about his players' performance
“They did everything I asked for. I am very happy with their performance”
“I asked them the importance of not loosing the 3 points. They managed it and we got a vital point”
When asked whether his strategy was to draw the game, Nizam said that he asked the players not to loose it and their mind set changed like that.
“I asked them not to loose the 3 points, so they tried to draw the game and if we play like this we have a good chance to qualify”
