Iraq replaces Iran in Group D

Male, MALDIVES - Suspended Iran will take no part in this year's Asian Games and their position is replaced by Iraq, who played in the first round and won Group B.

According to the new schedule, Group D will contain Maldives, Iraq, India and Hong Kong.


Eight team who competed in two groups in round one are: Jordan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyztan, Macau, Singapore, Syria, Indonesia and Iraq.

Tajikistan and Iraq enter round two winning their respective group in round one.

Jordan will take part in Group C, taking Yemen's place after they pulled out of the competition last week. Their debut will be against Kuwait while Thailand and Palestine complete the group.

Another team coming through the first round, Syria, are squared up against China, Oman and Malaysia in Group E. Meanwhile Kyrgyzstan takes Turkmenistan's original place after that country cancelled its participation in the Games. The Kyrgyz will now face Japan, DPR Korea and Pakistan in Group F.

Group B remains unchanged from the original schedule with Korea, Bahrain, Vietnam and Bangladesh all making their debuts on Tuesday, 28 November at Al-Gharrafa stadium.
