New Radiant boycotts charity match

Date: 06 January 2007 | Uploaded: 01:30 AM

Male, MALDIVES - New Radiant has asked their players not to participate for the charity match organized by Haveeru Daily to help the Tsunami Victims. New Radiant's official Shameem today asked Anwar Abdul Ghanee and Akram Abdul Ghanee who signed for new radiant this year to come out of today's practice while the players were warming up with the rest of FAM's eleven players. Some players also revealed to maldivesoccer.com that New Radiant management called them and asked them not to go for the practices.

Regarding the matter, Azim chairman of New Radiant said that they wish to help Haveeru Daily in organizing the match or any other organization specially it being a charity match

“Whether it is organized by Maldivesoccer or Aafathis or Haveeru, if it is played for a special purpose we would be glad to help them out.”

Meanwhile he also mentioned that there are guidelines in the contract about how a player should follow in participating in other matches except club organized matches

“The players themselves should speak with us if they want to play and none of them has talked so far”

Meanwhile, FAM has revealed that the executive committee has agreed earlier to participate the national team for the charity match. So according to the rules and regulations which a national team player has to follow, the player should be present for the practices

FAM's vice chairman Addo said to maldivesoccer.com that the matter would be discussed in the executive committee very soon

“The matter has been forwarded to the chairman. He has the authorization to call the executive committee for a meeting”

It has been known that New Radiant do not wish to participate in the match as there are no guidelines set by FAM in participating in a charity match and the management is concerned over the injuries faced by the players during the match. In a previous interview given by New Radiant's Assistant coach Niyaz, has said that the club signs players after spending quite big sum of money and if a player gets injured the club would be in a huge loss.

The match is scheduled to be held on 7 th . It has also been revealed that the tickets are almost sold out. Maldivesoccer.com would be bringing the live web cast of the match from National Stadium.

I think New Radient Management have a good pint noted, about their players injuries. But I think they had ben also aware of the match organised by haveeru for a long time and the purpose of the event. I think the N. Radient Mgmt. hould have initiated and guide the players who are particiapting.

Good thinking New Radiant.FAM and Haveeru needs to realise that its the club who have to take the blow if a player gets injured.Especially since the season is about to kick off. This again shows how juvenile FAM is.

This is a very bad decision taken by NRSC..Its just a personnel thing against Haveeru..While this match is organized is for such a great cause, they want the players to ban them?..Now is there any law in their contract which says they cant even go on picnics with their families?..What is they gets injured while in kud bandos or while in a resort?..
Even in the big leagues the clubs encourage their players to participate in such charity work..
This is really dissapointing..Shame on NRSC

Wake Up New Radiant. Isn't this your way of getting back at FAM and Haveeru over the penalty given to Coach Niyaz? What if the player was injured playing for the National Team? This is a charity match and things are done in the true spirit of giving. I call FAM to investigate this and also call Haveeru to do whatever in your powers (like limited coverage to New Radiant in future) so that acts of such childish nature stops.

shame on nrsc, i think they are not thinking the proper way, how come world famous players participate in charity matches, where its for a great purposes the reason of banding the team members is because they are against the haveeru daily nes which azim said they wil not give any interview to them.we have seen that the players do not obey the contract now adays do not go for the pracise ,they go for kuda bandos or fishing trips , in one way its gud to think about the players, which they may get injured, but i think the match is not a physicai match

No rules or anything in Maldives for these kinds of matches. An injury to one of these players and new radiant would lose 10 times morfe money than money generated by the match. If haveeru agrees to pay for all injuries, then New radiant should play in my view. otherwise please dont.
