Charity match ends in a draw

Collina awards the red card for Sinaz

Male, MALDIVES - Charity match organized by Haveeru Daily to help the Tsunami Victims ended in a goalless draw. With one of the highest attendance to the stadium in the recent years, Ibrahim Ismail kicked off the match with the famous referee Perluigi Collina officiating the match. Before the kick off, there was a moment of silence observed in remembering the Tsunami Victims.

The whole match was very slow in movements and pace. Though the match was dominated by the FAM XI, Haveeru XI also managed to counter some attacks on Imran's goal. Sergio, the play maker of VB Sports got a good chance in the 6 th minute to be in front. But his free kick was straight to Keeper Imran's hands.

Oppo also got a golden chance to score a goal in the 8 th minute. But his shot went inches wide. Oppo got another golden chance in the 16 th minute from a free kick. His shot went too high and missed the target. Shinaz of Haveeru XI was continuously fouling Ali Umar and referee Collina kept on advising him.

The best chance in the whole match was for Ibrahim Fazeel. His shot from the edge of the penalty area hit the vertical bar and rebound ball was cleared by Haveeru XI defenders.

During the half time, Island Music played three songs which were dedicated to the Tsunami Victims. After the half time, both teams played with more passion with the live beats of Island Music.

During this half, the first yellow card was awarded to Janah of Haveeru XI and later Sinaz was awarded a straight red card when he hit Assad Ali. Assad Ali was also awarded a yellow card as he fouled Sinaz before.

After the exictment the match ended as a draw. After the match a special shield was awarded to all the players, officials and referees including collina for participating in the match.
