Male, MALDIVES - National Under 23 team who would be playing in Beijing Olympics Qualifiers against Thailand 's has been announced. The team who are practicing with 22 players were reduced to 18 for the final squad. The most surprising change was the exclusion of Adam Niyaz (Bro) from the squad. He is a key player under former coach Stoikov's guidance.
Regarding his exclusion National Under 23 coach Suzeyn said in a press conference held in National Stadium today said that Niyaz did not fit to the formation and style of play he want to play in the away game
“I wanted to play a very defensive game and Niyaz do not fit in to the formation I wanted to play. But I will really consider him for the game played in here”
Coach Suzeyn also said that he hopes to get at least a point in the away game
“We are hoping to get at least a point in the away game and we are targeting for that as well. We would practice the same formation and style in the practice matches”
Regarding the improvement of player's performance Suzeyn said he is delighted.
“We have around 9 places to be filled compared to last Under 23 squad. So we have to work with the new players and improve them. They really are improving well.”
Team is expected to depart on 27 th of this month to play against Malaysian Olympic Under 23 team twice before departing to Indonesia to play on 7 th February.
