A bitter result for Maziya

Male', MALDIVES - Maziya has tasted a bitter result against Club Valencia, as they were held to a 2 - 2 result in the 3rd round fixture of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League 2014. Maziya could have climbed to top of the league table if they could grabbed 3 points from this game, but the result kept Maziya one point behind the leader New Radiant SC.

In the seventh minute of the game Valencia created the first attempt, Ali Hamdhaan dribbled past in to Maziya penalty area and supplied a good ball to unmarked Rilwan (Riley). Maziya defender Amdan blocked the shot from inside the penalty area.

Twenty minutes later Ashad Ali saw his header from a corner kick missed the target by inches. Arif (Baka) chopped Nashid’s corner kick in to the penalty area and Ashad Ali well headed the ball but it went out from near the far post.

Abu missed another good chance for Maziya in the 36th minute, Abu’s header from inside the penalty area went inches off the target.

Five minutes remaining in the first half Ashad tried with a long range shot but it went over the crossbar.

Two minutes later Kaanu brought Valencia to the lead with a wonderful goal from outside the penalty area. Kaanu’s long-range shot hit the top roof of the goal giving no chance to keeper Imran.

In the extra minutes of the first half Maziya got a free kick near the Valencia penalty area but Smahood’s thunderbolt went over the crossbar.

Kaanu supplied a good through pass to Riley in the 60th minute, Riley’s shot from edge of the penalty failed to find the target.

Four minutes later Riley’s free kick from middle of Maziya half drilled dangerously towards the far bottom corner of the goal. Keeper Imran dived and punched the ball out to a corner kick.

Maziya Substitute player Riste leveled the game in the 66th minut, Riste well headed Assadhulla’s corner kick to the far corner of the goal.

Abu beat his marker and fired a close range shot in the 74th minute, but the lower shot went wide off the target.

In the added minutes of the game Valencia turned the game to their side after an easy finish from substitute player Ismail Ahmed that was in result of a superb effort from Riley’s assist.

But in the last seconds of the game, Nashid leveled the game with the corner kick delivered from Assadhulla. Nashid’s header from crowded area went in to the goal and Referee made the final whistle right after the goal.

After the final whistle some Officials and Players of Maziya protest against Referee Zaeem claiming for some additional minutes to be played, as Valencia wasted lot of time out-of-play in the end.
