AYL bags first win

Male’, MALDIVES – All Youth Linkage has finished the first round of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League with their first win in the league as they beat BG Sports by 1-0.

Hassan Solah broke the deadlock in the fourth minute of the game from a wonderful header inside the box. Hussain Ahsan penetrated the defense line and supplied a good ball into the box from the left flank.

In the 9th minute of the game Azzam made a good shot just out side the box but it went wide.

Two minutes later Amir missed a golden opportunity to double the lead, he got the ball inside the box but failed to control it and Jinah supplied it again to Solah but he failed to make a shot from it.

In the half an hour mark Atapa Kazeem penetrated the defense line and made a good shot but it went wide.

BG Sports missed a golden opportunity to level the game from a penalty kick where Atapa’s spot kick hits the woodwork. Referee Ahmed Aslam awarded a penalty kick to BG Sports when keeper Yamaan brought down Naavy inside the box.

Three minutes before the break Kudus made a powerful shot from outside of the box but it went wide.

In the additional time of the first half Adil Abdul Rahman made a good shot on target inside the box but keeper punched it for a corner.

In the 74th minute BG missed a golden opportunity to level the game, Ahmed Simhan made a good header on target but keeper Yamaan cleared it for a corner.

Speaking at the post match press conferene AYL coach Ahmed Nashid said that he is very happy with the win in the last match of the first round.

“Very happy with the win and all thanks go to the players. And it is a huge boost for the team before the second round.”

“Our main aim is to win this match and we are very happy on achieving that. We are trying to bring the foreign players who were registered.”

BG Sports coach Iqbal said his players didn’t perform well and they played a relaxed game.

“I told them that when playing against a team like AYL we must focus on the match and we didn’t do that and it costs us three points.”

“I am not happy to finish the first round with one point and this is not what we expected. We lost two games that we can win.”

New Radiant will play against Maziya tomorrow night at 2100 hours as the giants fight for top spot.
