Asadhulla omits due to injury

Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives national team striker Asadhulla Abdulla was ruled out of the national team, who are gearing up for the 2015 Indian Ocean Island Games due to injury.

Asadhulla suffered a hamstring muscle strain in the 40th minute of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Hong Kong 16th June.

Asadhulla’s injury would be another blow for the national team coach, Velizar Popov as keeper Imran Mohamed and Hussain Niyaz will not be in the team due to injury as well as ace striker Ali Ashfaq and midfielder Mohamed Arif is not released for the national team by the two teams they are playing.

Maldives lies in group A along with Seychelles, Mayotte and Madagascar. Maldives team will be leaving to Reunion 30th of this month and their first game is on 31st of this month against Mayotte.

Wow, who's going to play up front now? Imaaz is one player, but he is extremely raw with regards to national team experience. Fasir is more of a second striker who likes to drop deep to receive the ball. Talent wise, we are extremely short up front. I really hope Popov doesn't fall into the trap of playing Umair as the central striker.

Oh, what a big blow again! I guess coach will be feeling the stupidity of taking part in this tournament. He now has no star players to bank on, let alone a reliable striker. With an inexperienced new bunch of players, he will be worried it will kind of badly reflect on his profession.
