A world not inhibited by Ashfaq is always good for these players. Some of these top players have lived under his larger than life shadow for long and it must be a big relief for Asadulla that he could utilise the opportunity up for grabs after Ali’s departure to another country. It is also good to see his entry to 30 goals club, which has mostly been an exclusive preserve of Ali along with one time breacher Umair. But I have my doubts about the quality of oppositions Asadulla had to face at the lower end of the table. So often it appeared they were there to make up for the numbers.

What an achievement for the boy! He was going absolutely nowhere during his stint in Valencia, until Maziya picked him up and turned him into one of the best Maldivian strikers of his generation. Fully deserved! Special mention to Irufan as well, who has worked extremely hard and merited a place in the Maziya starting XI.
