Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - Maldives national team’s captain, Ali Ashfaq (Dhagandey) has returned to PDRM FA’s practice yesterday after being out for 25 days following the hamstring injury which he suffered on his right leg during Malaysia Super League last month.

Ashfaq missed Maldives’ international friendly match against Tajikistan, also Malaysia FA Cup round of 16 match which PDRM knocked out after losing to Sime Darby. He also missed last weekend’s MSL match against Sarawak because of the injury.

Speaking exclusively to maldivesoccer.com, Ashfaq said that he has joined PDRM’s training session and he’s doing fine.

“Yesterday I joined the team’s practice and I have no difficulties now.”

He also said that he’s getting ready for Saturday night’s match against Felda United in Malaysia Super League.

“I’m getting ready to play on this weekend’s match, In Sha Allah.”

PDRM are the league leaders with 12 points and Felda United’s match on Saturday night is a must win for PDRM to be on the top of the league. Undoubtedly, the return of Ali Ashfaq would be a huge boost for the whole team for such important match.

This injury actually would not have taken this long had he taken proper precaution. He wanted to play in a friendly in the middle of healing process when he was supposed to take rest. He prolonged the healing process by exerting in the training sessions. We know all players want to play for national team but there are certain time periods for some injuries that you can't override it. In his haste to become fit for the match he actually made it worse it himself. We saw in the warm up for friendly match how he was unable to kick a ball and finally give up for good that day. This is something our players need to learn: that you can't rush up certain injuries.
