Ashfaq wins best player award

Male’, MALDIVES – Ali Ashfaq has won the best player award at Haveeru Sports Awards held tonight. Last year’s best player Mohamed Umair named as the second best player and Mohamed Arif wins the third position.

Ali Ashfaq also won the Golden Boot award after scoring an incredible 58 goals during the last season for the club and the country. Haveeru also awarded a special plaque for Ashfaq as he was named as the second highest top scorer in the world during the year 2013.

New Radiant’s former coach Velizar Popov won the best coach award while Ahmed Aslam defended the best referee award. Maziya’s Ismail Mahfooz (Imma) and AYL’s Ahmed Nashid competed with Popov for the best coach award.

Club Eagles young defender Ahmed Nooman won the best under 21 player award. New Radiant’s founder Queen Ahmed Waheed was awarded Haveeru special recognition award for his service for the sports with a standing ovation from the invitees of the ceremony.
