Maldives Achilles’ heel for so long has been semi-finals, especially against India. We get undone in pressure-cooker situations like this knockout match, pent-up anxiety and nervousness work out to a frustrating adrenaline rush. However, one hope this could be a good omen for a start. This match could be the real barometer to gauge the strength of this team bereft of once undroppable players.

I agree. During our last 3 semifinals in the SAFF Championship, we were let down by desperately poor performances by our most experienced players. I think Herbert is attempting to release us from these self-imposed shackles, and to do that we needed a few players who were kept on the sidelines in place of the more popular individuals. Players like Easa, Imaaz and Nashid, as well as the newer ones like Naiz, Hamza etc. would never have been given this kind of opportunity under previous management. They are clearly itching to make an impact and I think this has brought a refreshing freshness to the whole squad. Now, if we manage to cross this psychological barrier in the semifinal, I will be absolutely delighted.

If this kid play like he did in this match it may not be too long before dhangandey not only loses his celebrated no.7 to this boy but also captain band. Such a crafty player. Well-rounded and effective.
