Hope his tenure will not turn out to be like that of his predecessor Ilham who exploited the opportunity to campaign for his presidential candidate rather than worry the mire football was steeped in at the time. Lot of work to do indeed, hopefully he will do everything to salvage the image of the place and national team in particular, to assuage the despondency that is associated everything FAM.

So the saga of extended delay and postponement has a lot to do with a certain Shaweed, who not politically afflicted with the current government and hence was of no use to them in the grand scheme of things was officially the sacrificial lamb, with every possible leeway was sought to shut the door on him. It is no secret so far as national team is concerned, the government influence on the team, at times preposterously so, as the case may be when you see the goalkeeper’s jersey suddenly change to colour of the representative party of the government. Yes, ridiculous, but that’s one of the many pitfalls of being a third world country.

Man, focus! With respect, Shaweed is gone and the colour of the national keeper's jersey is of not important for us. Focus on the big milestone we have just achieved! Let's talk football... in the Yemen 1st leg match, who do you want to see up front in the attacking line-up? What about the defensive midfield? In the long-term do you want DPL to turn to island teams to attract the masses? What do you think about having youth u19/16 training programme days live on the media such as YESTV. What about clubs affiliating with schools? Let's talk the real stuff, not politics.
