Blues appoint foreign coach

Male', MALDIVES - New Radiant has appointed Mika Lonnstrom as their new head coach today.

Mika, a UEFA pro license holder from Finland, has previously worked in Thailand. His recent posts in Thailand include being the head coach of Police United of Thai Premier League.

In a press conference held today New Radiant chairman Balak introduced Mika, who arrived Maldives today and will take part in club trainings from today.

Balak also confirmed that Ismail Anil will continue with the club as Mika's assistant.

It is worrying that we don't see young Maldivian coaches coming through. Our "elite" coaches are Imma, Suzain, Mohan and Saanthi. We're always worried about the quality of our players, but how do we manage that when we don't have enough skilled coaches to guide them?
