Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant Sports Club has regain the top spot of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League after beating Valencia by 3-0 last night. Mohamed Umair, Ali Fasir and substitute player Shamveel Qasim scored the goals for the Blues.
New Radiant opened the scoring in the 39th minute by Mohamed Umair, while Club Valencia also got the opportunity to level the game in the first half.
New Radiant made some changes in the first half as well as in the second half to replace their three foreign players.
In the 71st minute Valencia missed another good opportunity to level the game from their skipper Abdulla Haneef. His header inside the box went over the bar.
Four minutes later Ali Fasir doubled the lead for the Blues and four minutes before the normal time Shamveel Qasim scored their third goal of the night to secure three points for them.
In the last minute of the game Fazeel made another good shot on target but keeper Ifrah cleared the ball but Fasir’s shot from the deflected ball went over the bar.
Valencia’s coach Mohamed Shahid said after the game that he is happy with the performance of the team even though they lost the game.
“New Radiant is a very strong team and other than Maziya all the teams will play against them to minimize the goals concede. So losing the game by 3-0 to them is a good result.”
“We also got good chances to score and we concede those goals due the mistakes we made in the defense line.”
Meanwhile New Radiant’s manager Ismail Wisham said that they started the game slowly and they took sometime to dominate the game.
“We started the game slowly and it took some time for us to get back to our normal game and we missed many chances to score goals.”
In the next game of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League Club Eagles will play against Victory Sports Club on next Thursday night at 2200 hours.
