Blues finally beaten

Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant Sports Club lost their first league match since 2012 when Maziya Sports and Recreation Club won tonight’s match by 1-0 in the ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League.

Maziya created the first chance of the match in the 3rd minute of the game from a wonderful header from Riste inside the box but it went straight to the gloves of the keeper.

In the 13th minute, Fazeel made a good shot on target just out side the box but keeper Imran saved the ball.

Maziya broke the deadlock in the 19th minute from a wonderful shot from Naumov. Asadhulla’s shot inside the box hits the cross bar and Naumov made a shot from the rebounded ball.

In the 39th minute Abu delivered a good ball to Nashid but his shot went wide.

Ahmed Nashid missed a golden opportunity to double the lead. Ashad Ali supplied a decent cross from the left flank but unmarked Nashid’s header inside the box went wide.

In the 57th minute Maziya’s keeper Imran made a wonderful save from a shot made by Umair. Keeper cleared it for a corner kick.

Four minutes later Abu supplied another decent ball to Asadhulla but his header went wide.

Ashad Ali missed one of the best chances so far in the match score. Nashid gave a good ball to Ashad, who was unmarked inside the box but his shot went wide.

Ibrahim Shiyam missed another good chance to double the lead, he was unmarked inside the box and shot it over the bar.

Abu penetrated the defense line and supplied a good ball to unmarked Shiyam but Shafiu blocked his shot.

Two minutes before the normal time Umair made a good shot inside the box but keeper Imran cleared it.

Maziya coach Ali Suzain said that it was not an easy win against a team like New Radiant, who were unbeaten in the last two seasons.

“This was not an easy win. New Radiant was unbeaten in the last two seasons. But I am very happy with the win.”

“Maziya’s confidence will improve and I hope to get a better result in the next game against New Radiant.”

Suzain also said that it was easy for him to beat New Radiant and he defend his comments.

“I have beaten them in many times and I guess during the game New Radant officials did concentrate more on me than their players and I guess it was an advantage for us.”

New Radiant’s manager Wisham said that he was very happy with the performance of the team during the match.

“We were happy with the performance of the team during the match. But obviously we were not happy with the result.”

“I don’t think that the players will demotivate with this defeat. Yes we were unbeaten in the last two season of the league and we will try hard to improve our mistakes and get ready for the next games.”

“We will take this defeat as a positive thing and we will work to improve.”

New Radiant will play against Maziya in the first match of the second round on 7th August.
