Blues into the final

New Radiant skipper Ashad Ali scored the winning goal against Eagles today.

Addu City, MALDIVES – New Radiant Sports Club has booked a place in the final of Presidents Cup after a 2-1 win against Club Eagles today here in Addu Football Stadium, Hithadhoo.

New Radiant created their first chance in the 28th minute from a good shot from Alamu but Nooman blocked his shot.

New Radiant broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute from a wonderful long-range shot from Rilwan Waheed, which was curled into the far corner of the net.

In the 76th minute New Radiant’s William missed a good chance to increase the gap, which went over the bar.

Two minutes later New Radiant’s keeper Alisher was forced to block the shot from Rizuwan.

Abu Desmond Mansaray leveled the game for Club Eagles in the 81st minute from a penalty when referee awarded them a penalty for foul committed by Mohamed Sifan inside the box.

Three minutes later Ashad Ali took the lead for the Blues from a wonderful header inside the box from a corner kick.

Eagles coach Ihusan Abdul Ghani said that the difference was the experienced players of New Radiant.

“The only difference was the experienced players of New Radiant. They were very good on the pitch and they used it as much as they can.”

New Radiant coach Sobah Mohamed said that it was not an easy thing to play in the final of the Presidents Cup final.

“It was not an easy thing to play in the final of Presidents Cup and I am happy with this. Our senior players played very well today. It was all because of the teamwork. I want to thank the management and other who supported me when I was appointed as the coach of New Radiant.”

Maziya will play against TC Sports tomorrow in the second semi final of Presidents Cup. The match will be kick off at 1545 hours.
