Oh dear, this will be a day of mourning for Suzain. He will never have thought this day would come, that his accomplishments as Victory coach, when he won president’s Cup thrice in a row, will be repeated by arch-rivals. His sudden resignation from FAM and to become a coach of Maziya was just for this – to prevent New Radiant to have their hand on this prestigious trophy. Not for the third time in a row. That illusion has been busted. Not only his team failed to reach the final, they were drubbed shockingly on the way by Eagles. So much for chasing personal glory!

Why is this tournament labelled as the most prestigious? The prize money is less than that for the League Champions. Winning this Cup does not provide an opportunity to play international matches. Only 4 clubs participate in the tournament. Also if you ask any player or coach, whether he would prefer to win the league or this cup, undoubtedly almost all the players and coaches would unanimously pick the league championship. So much for prestige!
